What is a Local Cultural Strategy?
A Local Cultural Strategy is an overarching strategic document, which will drive
the development of the cultural sector of Bolton for the
next five regions Boltons industries Boltons years.
It recognises the value of culture in everyone’s life. It values the contribution
the cultural sector can make in improving the quality of life for local people whilst
recognising the innate value of culture in itself. The strategy advocates the role
of culture in supporting local issues such as Boltons
Boltons improving
economic development, life long learning, improving public health, overcoming social
exclusion, community safety and sustainable development.
The Local Cultural Strategy has given the Borough an opportunity to celebrate its
social heritage and all diverse cultures of the Borough (traditional, new and developing).
Bolton’s Cultural Strategy recognises the national and regional context within which
the cultural sector operates and will enable Bolton to lock culture into its other
comprehensive strategies and in particular the Borough’s Community Strategy,
as well as raising the profile of culture within and outside the Borough boundaries.
The presence of a Local Cultural Strategy for Bolton will, in the longer term bring
culture centre stage in both the lives of individuals and communities, in partnership
thinking, in regeneration choices and in policy making.
