Community Strategy
The Local Government Act 2000 places a duty on local authorities in conjunction with their Local Strategic Partnership to prepare a Community Strategy. Bolton has had a successful Partnership Strategy since 1996/7 when the Vision for the Future was developed which has provided an excellent springboard for the development of a Community Strategy.
A 10 year Community Strategy for Bolton Borough will be launched towards the end of 2002 to cover the period 2003-2013. It will be informed by the expressed needs and priorities of local people and will set out the main challenges, priorities and activities to:
- Develop positive benefits for the communities of Bolton
- Improve economic, social and environmental well being
The Community Strategy will incorporate a long term vision for the area focussing on outcomes, together with an action plan identifying shorter term priority activities that will contribute to the achievement of the longer term vision. Effective arrangements will be put in place for monitoring activities, reviewing the strategy and for reporting progress to the residents of Bolton.
